    Descrizione

Produced with grapes from a vineyard in the Montosoli area - in the northern part of Montalcino - this wine matures for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels. The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli Le Ragnaie shows dark berry fruit and cherry, followed by crushed stone and slate. Great elegance and finesse, with only 3,800 bottles produced.

External quotation marks The immediate impression of this Brunello showcases its harmony and charm, evoking black cherry, blackberry, violet, mineral and woody aromas. Accents of iron and tobacco emerge which give body to the palate up to the long aftertaste, with well integrated tannins. Concentrated, but never heavy or unbalanced.

External quotes On the nose, flowers, dark mushrooms, undergrowth and black cherries are impressive. Full-bodied with ultra-fine and intense tannins, refined and smooth. Very long and lucid in the finish.

    97 points Vinous
External quotes The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli is one of those wines that the first time you put your nose in the glass, you know you're in for an experience. Like when I pick wild strawberries off the vine, I find crushed red fruits, stems, seeds and the dark tones of the soil beneath them. It's somehow extraordinarily fresh and lifted but also rich and exotic, skirting silky textures through a medium-bodied structure with tart wild berries, savory herbs and the slightest hint of balsamic spice. Inner rose, violet, lavender and tart citrus - this is stunningly layered with unseen depths. The balance between vibrant acids and rising tannin keeps the experience lively, even as the palate begins to dry out beneath its youthful structure.

    97 points Wines and spirits
External quotation marks In 2014, Riccardo Campinoti purchased nearly 2.5 acres of vineyard on the Montosoli hill just north of the Montalcino town walls, and the second vintage of his single-vineyard Montosoli bottling is simply stunning. It shows the energetic character of all its 2016 Brunellos, balancing an impressive concentration of red fruit and cherry flavors with intense accents of thyme and orange peel. It seems more sensual than his linear V.V. bottling, with some savory nuances providing a darker dimension.

    96 points Jeb Dunnuck
External quotation marks In 2015 Le Ragnaie purchased this parcel of the Motosoli vineyard just below the historic site owned by Altesino. The 2016 Brunello Di Montalcino Casanovina Motosoli reveals fruity aromas of cherry liqueur, cinnamon, fresh leather and undergrowth. On the palate it offers fresh ripe cherry fruit, bitter herbs and black tea, with sharper tannin, while maintaining a fresh acidity.

    96 Wine Advocate points
External quotes The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli Le Ragnaie shows the same level of dark fruit intensity that we have seen in the other new releases from this estate, however in this wine I get more toasted nuts and crushed stone. Like the others, it involves a prolonged fermentation lasting 45 days or more (with indigenous yeasts). Dark berries and cherry are followed by crushed stone and slate. This expression has an added level of elegance and finesse, with only 3,800 bottles produced.

    95 point decanter
External quotation marks Le Ragnaie is among about 10 producers who now do separate Montosoli bottling. Riccardo Campinoti purchased a one-hectare plot at the bottom of this venerated hill in late 2014, and this second vintage is a beauty. Plum and earth give way to hints of smoked incense and lilac. Initially tight, it becomes more flexible as it ages in the glass, demonstrating a certain roundness of the fruit. Fine, silky tannins frame the palate while the succulent acidity keeps it fresh. The finale lingers with an explosion of crushed flowers.
